After receiving the DNA Paris Design Awards 2022 and the Frame Awards 2022, Manital’s Gemmy lever handle designed by Mario Mazzer and Giovanni Crosera, has achieved a further success by obtaining the Good Design Award 2022 in the “Hardware” category.
It is with great satisfaction, that the Brescia-based company receives the news of this prestigious international award, born in 1950 from the initiative of Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames and organized by the “Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies”.
Gemmy’s success is due to its curved and slightly rounded lines, which evoke the shapes of large mooring cleats and the soft shapes of design icons from the 1950s, especially the Porsche 356.
Furthermore, the unique design which joins the base and body of the handle into a single harmonious form is an essential aspect of the handle’s design: the rosette, thanks to a technical solution designed by Manital, becomes a single component that connects the lever and the door, perfectly integrating to forma single streamlined silhouette with a language that appears familiar and offers a tactile appeal to the hand.
The white, polished chrome, satin chrome, satin nickel, matt bronze, and black finishes enhance the shape of the lever, while inviting you to grip it.
The award is even more significant, considering that this year the organizers received a record number of applications from companies and designers from over 55 countries.
